About the event
SASH is organising a fireside chat with two expert speakers to speak on the topic of "AI's impact on labour and the economy". As AI capabilities increase and allow it to perform many work tasks, more firms are laying off workers and investing heavily in AI instead. How widespread is this phenomenon, and what impact could it have on the labor market? How can governments prepare policies that can help society manage the economic impacts due to AI? In this fireside chat, the Singapore AI Safety Hub (SASH) has invited two expert speakers to speak on this topic. About the Speakers Bharat Chandar (Stanford Digital Economy Lab) Bharat is an economist with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. He researches the labor market impacts of AI, including as an author on recent pieces ""Canaries in the Coal Mine? Six Facts about the Recent Employment Effects of Artificial Intelligence"" and ""AI and Labor Markets: What We Know and Don’t Know."" His research has been cited in major global news publications and he has advised policymakers and business leaders on the economic impacts of AI. Deric Cheng (Windfall Trust)
